So say you find a tree that is expected to grow 15 feet tall, you would then plant the tree at least 15 feet away from other pieces of your landscaping layout.

If you are focused more on adding shrubs to your yard, you won’t need as much room as a tree. If your shrub will grow to be 6 feet wide, you can plan to leave half the amount of space (3 feet) between your shrub and the next landscaping element.
